Many RC modelers have a lot of experience with gas and glow fuel powered aircraft. But the world of electric power is new with a range of technical items not at all associated with RC flight with gas motors.

In addition to new hardware, such as electronic speed controls, there is the need to have some level of understanding of software. Software is part of every aspect of electric flight from programming for the ESC to setup of the battery chargers.

The good news is that the various hardware and software items, once figured out, are quite easy to use. But getting started is the challenge, thus this section of the website.

The first part of this beginner section of the site discusses the two most important items for anyone contemplating electric flight, and that is a proper motor and electronic speed controller combination, followed by the right
battery and charger. Once these two items are settled on, many of the remaining modeling tasks are the same as for fuel powered flight.

A final note regards people and getting help with your start in electric radio control flight.

There is no more important resource than reaching out to your fellow modelers. For certain the internet is an invaluable information resource. But there is an incredible range of knowledge and experience available to the newcomer from people at the hobby shop, flyers at a local club to tech representatives at the various suppliers and manufacturers.

There is enough newness and complexity with the range of electric radio control products that a bit of human help at the start can save a lot of time and headaches further down the road.
